Responsibilities of a Major Player in the Global Economy

Speaking at the Bloomberg LINK China Conference, Robert Hormats, Under Secretary of State for economic growth, energy and the environment, stated that China would benefit from complying with global economic and trade standards, specifically with respect to intellectual property protection.

As China is a major player in the global economy, there is the expectation that it should assume greater responsibility, especially because “playing by the rules” is in its best interest, ensuring long-term economic growth in the country.
